Apples have a very high-water content, thus giving off moisture to keep baked goods especially cakes from going stale. Simply store baked goods into an airtight container with few apple wedges and it will make the baked goods remain soft and moist.

  • Absorb salt in dishes

When you go a little overboard on salt in soups or stews, simply throw some apple slices into the pot, stir and remove before serving. The apples would absorb the extra salt, and you’ll never taste the difference.
