Highlights: The Fuji apple was developed in the Tohoku Research Station, Aomori prefecture, Japan in the 1930’s as a cross between Red Delicious and Ralls Janet.
The Fuji apple is now commonly grown in most apple producing areas in the world and is extremely popular due to its excellent sweet, crispness and long shelf life. It is in fact one of the sweetest eating apples with 15-18 Brix count, a higher glucose/fructose content than most apples and a low sourness content.
