Sugar snap peas were developed in the 1970’s by crossing the Chinese snow pea with a normal garden pea plant resulting a delicious crisp, sweet pea with an easily edible pod and plumper peas. It may be planted in Spring after the frosts and harvested early summer, so is considered a cool season crop.

These legumes are good source of fibre as well as vitamins C and K carotenoids and folate, so sugar snap peas support gut health, weight loss and overall improved health.
